There is no doubt that the outdoor cat population is a serious concern for wildlife, so what can we do about it? This program will cover the active steps Southern Arizona is taking to reduce the overpopulation of free-roaming outdoor cats, and how the community can get involved in making a difference in the lives of cats and urban wildlife through Trap Neuter Return. The program will address the history of free roaming cats, common concerns regarding free-roaming cats, how to best help these cats and the community, what to do when you find kittens outside, and solutions for deterring cats from private properties and gardens.
Instructor: Angeline Fahey
Angéline Fahey is the Humane Society of Southern Arizona’s Community Cat Program Manager, providing education and trapping assistance for Trap Neuter Return of free-roaming cats. Prior to this position, Angéline worked for a wildlife hospital writing newsletters, rehabbing baby birds and rodents, and developing an education program on urban wildlife rehabilitation and coexistence that was presented over 100 times throughout Southern Arizona. Before animal welfare, Angeline dedicated her time to the hospital bedside providing art-therapy to children coping with serious illness.
Angéline has earned multiple citizen achievement awards recognizing her efforts and compassion to help people and animals.
